# Powered by cSigma

**cSigma Smart Contracts**

**Edge** is built on top of **cSigma’s robust and audited smart contract infrastructure**, specifically designed for institutional lending at scale.\
Since its inception, **cSigma** has led the development of advanced onchain lending primitives, combining transparency, capital efficiency, and strong risk controls.

As **Edge** evolves, it now introduces **csUSD**, powered by the **multi-asset vault standard – ERC-7575**.\
This upgrade consolidates all lending activity into a single, multi-asset vault system, enabling more flexible and efficient capital allocation, improved liquidity, and real-time yield compounding — all while maintaining institutional-grade safety and performance.\
(refer to [**Technical Resources**](/csigma-protocol/technical-resources/pools-architecture.md) for more details)

Alongside csUSD, Edge now introduces csLYD, built on the same ERC-7575 multi-asset vault framework. csLYD represents the next phase of cSigma’s onchain yield architecture, connecting user deposits to **institutional-grade asset managers** operating through dedicated **child pools under Institution V1**. These managers deploy funds into yield-generating DeFi strategies such as liquidity provisioning, delta-neutral positions, and structured yield farming

Together, **csUSD** and **csLYD** extend the cSigma vault layer to cover both **institutional credit** and **onchain yield**, allowing for unified yield aggregation, transparent reporting, and efficient capital utilization across the protocol.\

Edge is built on top of cSigma’s robust and audited smart contract infrastructure, specifically designed for institutional lending at scale. Since its inception, **cSigma has led the development of advanced on-chain lending primitives**, combining transparency, capital efficiency, and strong risk controls.

In its current version, Edge leveraged cSigma’s ERC-4626 vault architecture to tokenize stablecoin deposits and facilitate lending to institutional borrowers. These pools allowed users to earn fixed yields backed by collateralized loans to whitelisted institutions, through a seamless DeFi-native interface.

As Edge evolves, it now introduces **csUSD**, powered by **Multi asset vault standard** - [ERC-7575](https://eips.ethereum.org/EIPS/eip-7575). This upgrade consolidates all lending activity into a **single, multi-asset vault system**, enabling more flexible and efficient capital allocation, improved liquidity, and real-time yield compounding — all while maintaining institutional-grade safety and performance. (Refer to [**Technical Resources**](/csigma-protocol/technical-resources/pools-architecture.md) for more details).

**cSigma’s AI-driven credit intelligence engine**

One of the key innovations at **cSigma** is its **AI-driven credit intelligence engine**, which optimizes lending and borrowing by helping users identify the best pools based on risk and yield potential. This AI-powered system evaluates various factors such as credit risk, market trends, and loan performance to provide an intelligent, data-driven approach to credit analysis and pricing.

In addition, **cSigma’s AI** continuously monitors loan performance and market conditions in real time, enabling proactive risk management across all institutional pools. The AI system also assists in assessing borrower creditworthiness, opening up lending opportunities for borrowers who may not qualify under traditional financial systems. This not only increases the capital available to borrowers but also diversifies the opportunities for lenders, thereby reducing risk and enhancing returns.

By integrating AI with smart contracts, **cSigma** offers a transparent, efficient, and stable platform for both lenders and borrowers, reducing human error and increasing operational efficiency. All transactions are recorded on the blockchain, providing transparency and building trust among users. As we continue to evolve, AI will play a crucial role in shaping the future of DeFi, revolutionizing how credit is assessed and loans are managed within our ecosystem.

**cSigma Institutional and Edge Architecture**

Edge operates as a bridge between DeFi and institutional lending, giving users access to multiple cSigma Institutional pools through an intuitive interface and a tokenized vault framework (refer to [**Technical Resources**](/csigma-protocol/technical-resources/pools-architecture.md) for more details).

Users of cSigma Institutional must complete strict KYC/KYB procedures to access these pools. However, Edge functions more like a DeFi platform, allowing crypto holders to lend simply by connecting their wallets, without the need for KYC/KYB. The capital deposited into Edge pools is then allocated across various cSigma Institutional pools, making Edge a **"**pool of pools**"** that offers exposure to institutional lending with ease. For more information on the legal and structural differences between cSigma Institutional and Edge, refer to the [**Legal**](/csigma-protocol/legal/restricted-countries.md) section.

**cSigma Underwriting and Credit**

Edge users benefit from the experience of cSigma's institutional credit team. cSigma’s lending division handles the review, structuring, and management of loans in the institutional pools that Edge connects to. The loans that generate returns for Edge users go to trusted crypto institutions that provide liquid digital assets as collateral.

cSigma’s technology keeps track of these loans in real-time, making sure they follow the agreed-upon terms and are properly backed by collateral. This setup gives Edge users a clear view of how their investments are being managed and secured.
